In “Science, Promise and Peril in the Age of AI,” a new special series released today, Quanta Magazine looks far beyond AI-based research tools to explore how AI is changing what it means to do science and what it means to be a scientist.

The American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) honored Quanta with the 2025 National Magazine Award for Best Single-Topic Issue for their series "The Unraveling of Space-Time," which blended longform journalism, original art, dynamic design, documentary video and interactivity to burrow a mind-blowing rabbit hole in the fabric of reality.

For over a decade, Quanta Magazine has challenged and delighted fans with stories about the most fundamental questions in science. Today, in its most ambitious project to date, the magazine brings its audience into what might be the deepest mystery of all: the nature of reality itself.

Patel succeeds Thomas Lin, who had led Quanta since its launch as Simons Science News in 2012. Lin remains at the Simons Foundation as the head of Quanta Books, a new science book imprint.

The popular math and science podcast returns with a new co-host and a 24-episode season.
